Renowned Broadway set designer turned layout designer Clarke Dunham will be providing not one, but two Clarke Dunham Layouts built by Dunham Studios: A 5 x 9 O Gauge Hi Rail and an HO gauge layout consisting of top end craftsman structures by Fine Scale Miniatures, South River Models and many others. Happy Independence Day!!

Planning has begun in earnest for the 2013 Great Train Extravaganza.

The 1st round of Vendor letters has gone out and we are busy lining up some great new attractions for this year's show.

Look for a very special layout by master designer and builder Clarke Dunham (designer/builder of the famed Citibank layout in NYC) that we will have on display.

Vendors, get your forms in early, this show is shaping up to be a Great Train Extravaganza.

Another successful year! Thank you to all of our attendees, we hope you had a blast. And thank you to all our vendors who help make this show what it is.

Let's not forget the volunteers who make everyone's experience that much better!

A special thank you to show Chairman Rich Smith, UTA co-chair Dave Halverson and marketing maven Irwin Nathanson. Without you three, none of this would be possible.

We'll see you all next year on Sunday December 1, 2013 for the Great Train Extravaganza. Even Bigger and better than ever.

The stage is set for our best show ever!

  • We have signed up more than 320 tables, including a huge Lego Railway display (you will find this in the Egg lobby).
  • We have planted over 300 roadside signs! (Don't forget to post pictures of any signs you see to our Facebook page!)
  • Look for our ads in local papers like the Albany Times Union and others.
  • Check out our ads in all the major modeling magazines
  • Like us on Facebook
  • And finally, BE SURE TO ATTEND the biggest Train show in the Capital region, The Great Train Extravaganza!

    Nearly 300 tables to date! We still have room for more. Get your forms back to us NOW! The Roaming railroad is returning. The train will be running in the Concourse due to the increase in tables in the Egg Lobby. The Clinic schedule is set, check it out in the side bar on the right. A little over a month until the Great Train Extravaganza!

    This well attended and enjoyable clinic is a perennial favorite! Come spend some time with Conductor Dave as he guides you through the magical world of Model Trains.

    Modeling Trees with Bob Hamm
    Part I Deciduous Trees

    Join Master Model Railroader Bob Hamm as he guides you through the forest and shows you some easy to master methods for making good looking trees.

    Bob will take you through techniques for making deciduous (leafy) trees with ideas for both the beginner as well as the experienced modeler.

    Part II Coniferous Trees

    The follow up to Bob's earlier clinic. This course will cover the creation of coniferous (pine) trees.

    Drawing on his 40 years' experience as a model railroader and a member of the famed "tree group" who authored the definitive series of articles on making trees in the pages of the 1995 Model Railroader magazine;

    Bob will show you some fun and easy ways to make your trees look great!
